Revealed: Michelin-starred eateries where YOU can get two courses for under £30 – including the UK’s ‘best Chinese restaurant’ and Tom Kerridge’s country pub

When you think of Michelin-starred menus, you probably think of fine-wine, microgastromy and triple figure bills.
But new research has shown there are dozens of Michelin-starred restaurants where you can get two courses for just £30 or less.
Bank thinkmoney analysed the menus of all 148 restaurants with one or two Michelin stars and found there are 45 restaurants across the UK where you can dine for under £40 per person, and in 20 of them you can dine for just £30 or less for two courses.
Half of the restaurants are in London, perhaps due to the fact the capital dominates the UK’s Michelin-starred restaurants, taking 13 of the 20 new stars given out this year.

The menu contains the likes of Raw Oyster with Seaweed Hot Sauce for £5, and Grey Mullet Tartare, Egg Yolk, Soy for £18.
A. Wong, in Pimlico, central London – which became the first Chinese restaurant in the UK to get two stars earlier this year- is the cheapest 2-star Michelin restaurant and costs £28 per person.
Serving dishes up in an unpretentious neighbourhood restaurant, A Wong -which is considered the best Chinese restaurant in the UK – serves the likes of £17 ‘Ma Po’ tofu with crispy onions, coriander and barbecued bone marrow and barbecued forbidden city sweetcorn, wagyu beef meat paste and truffle for £10.
Also on the list is Mayfair’s Gymkhana, a celebrity hotspot serving up modern Indian food.
Trishna, another Michelin one-star restaurant in the capital takes second place, with the cheapest starter and main for £23 per person.
The Coach, a Michelin one-star restaurant in Marlow in Buckinghamshire, offers the same price per person at £23 – perfect for celebrating your birthday or anniversary on a budget. This pub is also owned by the same team behind The Hand and Flowers, a Michelin two-star restaurant also in Marlow that will set you back just £35 per person.

You can eat out for less than £55 per person in all four of Birmingham’s Michelin-star restaurants. Birmingham boasts a Michelin one-star restaurant, Opheem, where you can dine for just £30 per person.
Similarly, Edinburgh also boasts four Michelin-star restaurants. Edinburgh’s Restaurant Martin Wishart, holding one Michelin star, is slightly more expensive at £42.50 per person. The two most expensive restaurants in Edinburgh are priced at £110 per person.
Belfast also boasts three Michelin one-star restaurants, with prices starting from £24 per person – a bargain for anyone looking to dine out for a special event.
