Megan Boone looks back on her time starring in The Blacklist as she parts ways with the NBC series

Wednesday night’s Season 8 finale of The Blacklist not only marked the end of this new season, but also the end of Megan Boone’s tenure on the show.

NBC announced back in January that they were renewing the hit drama series for a ninth season, though it was announced last week that Boone, 38, will not be returning for the ninth season.

After the Season 8 finale aired on Wednesday night, Boone took to Instagram to wish a fond farewell to the show and its fans.

‘Spoiler… This experience, for me, has been an entire life inside of my own life,’ Boone began.

‘These eight years playing Liz Keen have helped me better define the world and myself, as she set out to do the same,’ she added.

‘Liz sought incorruptible familial bonds, and collided with powerful forces to reveal the boundaries where a cruel, indifferent world ended and she began,’ Boone continued.

The actress added that she was ‘grateful’ for the people she got to share her time with on the show such as cast members and, ‘our incredible crew who carried every single day for all involved, and those of you we entertained.’

‘The dreams inside this little life are the memories I still have of the guest stars passing through, however briefly— of their faces, their voices, their idiosyncrasies and talents,’ she added.

‘There have been such an astounding abundance of you over my 150+ episodes that, ironically, I could not list you all here, but… What a list. What a dream. Thank you all,’ Boone concluded.

Boone’s departure leaves just James Spader (Raymond “Red” Reddington), Harry Lennix (Harold Cooper) and Diego Klattenhoff (Donald Ressler) as the only cast members to appear in every episode.

The series began with Liz as a rookie FBI profiler whose world is turned upside down when notorious criminal Reddington turns himself in asking only to speak with her.

The show charted her evolution from federal agent to dangerous criminal in her own right, who went from Red’s mentee to target.

She also appeared in an episode of Amazon Studios’ The Underground Railroad which aired in May.

There is still no word on what may be next for Boone, though the report last week from Deadline on her exit claimed she is, ‘plotting her next move.’

Before The Blacklist Boone had been featured in arcs on NBC’s Law & Order: Los Angeles and CBS’ Blue Bloods.
