Elton John fans won’t get to meet him if they fork out £1,200 for ‘Ultimate VIP’ concert tickets

Elton John is giving fans the chance to snatch up a VIP concert package for a cool £1,200, but they won’t get to meet him.

A ticket website selling the ‘Ultimate VIP Package’ for his concert in Norwich in June 2022 says fans who pay top price can expect a ‘welcome letter’, a ‘collectible Elton John concert chair’ and access to a ‘VIP hospitality lounge’.

However, fans may be disappointed to learn the hefty price tag does not offer a meeting with Elton but does come with a chance to take a photo next to his famous piano, reports The Sun

A point on the website reads: ‘Elton John does not participate in any VIP-related activities. VIP Packages do not include a Meet & Greet with Elton John.’

However, fans who do splash the cash will receive complimentary drinks and ‘decadent desserts’ and will be seen to by an ‘on-site VIP host’.

They will also receive champagne toast and a VIP backstage tour on arrival and have access to a ‘separate VIP entrance’.

They can also look forward to a limited edition Elton John tour lithograph and a VIP gift bag.

Fans can secure the VIP experience by coughing up a £600 deposit which must be paid eight weeks before the concert while cheaper seats are said to be priced at £200.

Elton has been playing his Farewell Yellow Brick Raod tour since 2018 and will consist of more than 300 concerts worldwide at its conclusion.

Intended to be his final tour, the concerts had grossed $358.6million (£258.1million) after the first 179 shows, according to Pollstar

It comes after Elton revealed that his mother Sheila Farebrother, who died in 2017, ‘was so against’ his and his husband David Furnish’s 2005 civil partnership, adding it was ‘so upsetting’.

Speaking during YouTube Pride 2021, Elton hosted an hour long special alongside his husband David, 58, and shared details about his mother’s ‘mild homophobia’ when speaking to singer Rina Sawayama, saying that her behaviour ‘came as a shock’.

Elton touched upon his strained relationship with his mother, saying: ‘Families can be very pro or very anti. My family, my mother and my step father, were very, very easy with me coming out.

‘When I wanted to have my civil partnership – when I was about to have my civil partnership – my mother was so against it, because it’s officially admitting that you’re gay.

‘It was so upsetting, she kind of ruined my day. Our day, rather, by her attitude. And for all those years I thought she was so supportive and in the background there was a mild homophobia going on within her.’

He added: ‘Because I was actually tying the knot with David and then getting married a few years later, she didn’t approve of it at all. And that came as a big shock to me.’

Agreeing that ‘a form of rejection from your own family is a very, very hard thing to take,’ David then assured viewers: ‘But that was more than compensated for by the friends who came and supported us on the day.’

Elton and his mother famously endured an eight-year feud, but the icon reconciled with Sheila in 2016, saying on her 90th birthday: ‘We are now back in touch.’
