John Wick: Chapter 4 has begun! Actor shares teaser image revealing filming is now underway on next installment of Keanu Reeves action saga

Fans of the popular John Wick series got some welcome news on Monday when one of the film’s actors revealed that the fourth entry in the series had gone into production.

Shamier Anderson, who’s a recent addition to the Keanu Reeves–starring franchise, posted a photo of an on-set chair reading ‘John Wick 4’ to Instagram, indicating the filming had begun.

‘So it begins…’ he wrote, while tagging the production companies making the movie.

It’s time! New John Wick cast member Shamier Anderson revealed Monday that the Keanu Reeves–starring fourth entry has begun filming; still from John Wick: Chapter 2

Anderson, who’s best known for playing Deputy Marshal Xavier Dolls in the Syfy series Wynonna Earp, hasn’t yet revealed who he’ll be playing in the upcoming film.

He joins new faces Donnie Yen, who’ll be playing a friend to John Wick with mutual enemies, while the Japanese–British singer–songwriter Rina Sawayama will be making her film acting debut in an undisclosed role.

In addition to the photo of the on-set chair, Anderson also shared a humorous video of a training battle with Reeves’ character Neo from The Matrix (1999), but Anderson had pasted his own face over Laurence Fishburne’s.

‘Swipe right to see a sneak peek of Keanu and I training!’ he joked

Director Chad Stahelski is again directing. He helmed the last two films on his own after co-directing the first John Wick with David Leitch, who went on to direct Atomic Blonde and Deadpool 2.

Longtime writer Derek Kolstad is skipping the newest entry, while Shay Hatten, who co-wrote the third film is returning.

He’ll be joined by Michael Finch, who wrote 2010’s Predators and 2017’s American Assassin.

Nothing has yet been revealed about the fourth film’s plot, although it’s filming France, Germany and Japan, suggesting another globetrotting affair.

John Wick’s biggest allies, played by Ian McShane and Fishburne, will both be returning, while Bill Skarsgård and Hiroyuki Sanada will be joining the fold.

Each film in the series has grossed considerably more than its predecessor, so anticipation will likely be high for the gun-heavy movie.

John Wick 4 is expected to arrive in theaters on May 27, 2022.
