After a legal battle between Sweetpea Entertainment and Hasbro about ownership rights, the film was moved to Paramount, according to Variety.

Chris McKay was brought in as a director before he left the project. In 2019, Goldstein and Daley came in.

Plot details behind this latest take on the game are being kept under wraps.

Dungeons and Dragons was first adapted in 2000. That version starred Thora Birch, Kristen Wilson, Justin Whalin, Marlon Wayans and Jeremy Irons.

The project, which was made by New Line, did not do well at the box office.
