Gellar gave a bit of parenting advice to People during a 2018 sit-down and expressed that the most important thing that she has learned as a mother is not to fall into the same routine with her children.

‘What I would say to any new parent, which someone gave to me once and I thought was the best advice was: Add “for now” to the end of every sentence,’ she said.

The performer elaborated on her advice and remarked that, as her young ones have grown older, they have kept her on her toes as a mother, to which she has learned to accept.

‘So like “I’m getting no sleep for now”…or “My kid doesn’t want to listen for now.” It’s all going to change and when you look at it that way it’s much less daunting,’ she said.

Gellar concluded that she has attempted to educate her children about respecting other people’s feelings and noted that they have learned to be much more responsive individuals as a result.

‘As a parent, the most important thing you can do is teach your child responsibility and empathy. When a baby or a toy cries, they have to take responsibility for that and take it more seriously than having someone else deal with it,’ she said.
