Britney Spears’ mom Lynne ‘concerned over Jamie’s role in conservatorship’

Britney Spears’ mom Lynne ‘concerned over Jamie’s role in conservatorship’ … as pop star suffers legal setback with judge denying request to remove him as conservator

  • Lynne Spears has ‘concerns’ over her ex-husband Jamie as the conservator of their daughter Britney’s estate, a source told People Magazine
  • Spears, 39, has been trying to have her father removed from the conservatorship and have the whole thing vacated to regain control of her life
  • A judge this week denied her request to have her father removed, however, the denial was based on a motion filed prior to her explosive testimony
  • Britney told a judge last week that she no longer wants to be under the control of the ‘abusive’ conservatorship, which has been in place for 13 years
  • The popstar has been vacationing with her boyfriend Sam Asghari since her statement to the court

Britney Spears is reportedly leaning on her mom Lynne for support in her fight to end her conservatorship and the 66-year-old is said to be in favor of removing Jamie Spears as the conservator, People Magazine reported on Thursday.

In this week’s cover story, a source told the outlet that the 39-year-old popstar ‘begged’ for her mom to stand by her and that Lynne has ‘concerns’ over her ex-husband’s role in controlling their daughter’s estate.

Spears has been under the conservatorship for 13 years and last week provided bombshell testimony to the court about the ‘abuse’ she said she has suffered under the thumb of her father.

‘Britney begged [Lynne] for help,’ an insider told People.

‘Lynne feels there are a lot of concerns with the conservatorship,’ they added. ‘She feels Jamie has not been transparent with her and is helping Britney as much as she can.’

Last fall Lynne appeared in court alongside her daughter when she first began her quest to have Jamie Spears permanently removed as conservator.

Through attorneys, Lynne and Jamie (who split in 2002), have been throwing jabs at each other while a judge in Los Angeles reviews the conservatorship.

They squabbled over money with Lynne accusing Jamie of being ‘improper’ for taking nearly a million dollars out of their daughter’s estate to cover legal fees.

This comes as Britney suffered a setback in the case after a judge denied her request to have her father removed as conservator.

According to new court documents, obtained by Variety on Wednesday, ‘the judge has denied the request by Spears’ attorney, Samuel Ingham III, to remove her father, Jamie Spears, as her sole conservator.’

The outlet pointed out that ‘the document was signed by Judge Penny on June 30 — after the singer’s explosive testimony’ last week, in which she claimed her conservatorship was ‘abusive’ and she was ‘traumatized.’

Spears’ father Jamie, however, has insisted he’s not to blame for restrictive rules placed on his pop star daughter by her conservatorship – after she told a court that she was banned from removing her IUD birth control or marrying her boyfriend.

The 68-year-old dad of three filed legal documents Wednesday claiming he has had zero involvement in Britney’s conservatorship for nearly two years – and instead leveled blame at co-conservator Jodi Montgomery.

He also claims Montgomery has blocked him from communicating with his daughter, TMZ reported.

Montgomery, an experienced conservator with a degree in social welfare, was brought on to co-manage Britney’s affairs in September 2019, when her father Jamie Spears became ill.

She has remained in charge of Britney’s personal affairs, working as her ‘care manager’, while Jamie still controls her $60 million fortune.

Britney told an LA judge last week: ‘I want to be able to get married to my boyfriend and have a baby but the conservatorship told me I can’t do that. I have an IUD [intrauterine device[ inside me to prevent me from having a baby.

‘I want to go to a doctor and take it out so I can have a baby but they (the conservatorship) told me no.’

Meanwhile, Spears has gotten out of dodge for the time being and is vacationing with her boyfriend Sam Asghari.
