Loki star Gugu Mbatha-Raw is seen for the first time on the set of new Apple TV+ series Surface

Gugu Mbatha-Raw was seen on the Vancouver set of her new Apple TV+ series Surface on Thursday.

The English actress, 38, was seen exiting a trailer with a white sweater coat over a black top with grey pants and white slippers, donning a headpiece with multiple wires and suction cups to attach a clear face shield to.

She was later seen wearing dark blue jeans and a gold watch while toting a binder and holding a water bottle. The U.K. native is the lead character on the psychological thriller, which was created by Veronica West.

Mbatha-Raw can currently be seen on the hit show Loki in the role of Ravonna Renslayer alongside Tom Hiddleston.

She told the NY Post last month that that she and Hiddleston go back almost decades, as they ‘were at drama school at the same time’ at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

‘There’s a lovely sense of the circle of life and shared experience when you get to work with an actor that you’ve known for a long time,’ she said of the collaboration.

She continued: ‘We’ve seen each other on and off over the years at various events. It was always lovely to run into him and catch up.’

Mbatha-Raw noted that their Loki co-star Wunmi Mosaku, who plays Hunter B-15, was also a classmate at the Royal Academy.

‘We filmed this during 2020 – which was obviously a mad, mad year for everyone,’ she said. ‘So, to have that shared experience and old college friends with you on this uncertain journey was very comforting.’

Mbatha-Raw’s star continues to rise with her roles on Loki, The Morning Show, and the series The Girl Before.

Surface is a collaboration between Apple Studios and Reese Witherspoon’s company Hello Sunshine, Deadline reported. It had a straight-to-series order, and will be divided into eight parts for its first season.
