Rita Ora ‘set to install a panic room in her £8million London home to feel safe’ after past burglary

Rita Ora is reportedly making plans to install a state of the art panic room in her £8milliom north London home in a bid to make her feel safer.

The singer, 30, was previously left shaken in 2015 when a thief broke into her then-home while she slept upstairs and made off with £200,000 worth of designer goods.

A now, amid elaborate renovations in the six-bedroom Victorian abode, Rita has also ordered a security review in a bid to deter any criminal activity in the home she acquired in February this year.

According to The Sun, the Anywhere hitmaker has applied to her local council for planning permission for the works which include replacing all the security cameras, while two areas have been earmarked as potential panic rooms.

An official report as quoted in the publication reads: ‘A full security review was conducted covering the new premises, the potential safeguards that should be in place to enable the client to be at peace while residing at home, happy in the knowledge they are safe.

‘Due to her success, her fame, her wealth and exposure to the public and media, this all leaves her open to unknown sinister risks/intentions.

‘There are two rooms that can be used as a safe room where the client can go as a last safe haven. The door must be strong with good locks, and whichever room is chosen must have good mobile phone coverage.’

The report goes on to say that the client, Rita, has been in the past victim to ‘stalkers, intruders and online fraudsters’, and thanks to the new security measures, those have been ‘neutralised.’

In addition to the amped up security, Rita is also said to have made plans for a dressing room, a pantry, a new shower and a fireplace in the main bedroom installed.

However, due to the home being a Grade II listed property, Rita will have to inform her local authority of all of the proposed changes.

MailOnline have contacted representatives of Rita for comment.

Six years ago the singer and her sister Elena were left terrified and locked themselves in a room while Charaf Elmoudden, then 26, took their possessions.

Elmoudden and another thief made off with designer goods and electronics which included iPhones, Apple Mac computers, a Fifty Shades Of Grey handbag worth £2,700 and a Louis Vuitton doggy bag.

A court heard that the two women threatened to ‘f*** up’ Elmoudden and his accomplice in an attempted show of bravado while on the phone with police.

The burglar – who has a number of previous convictions – was found guilty by a majority verdict at Harrow Crown Court in June 2016 and jailed for five years.

Sentencing Elmoudden, Judge Alan Greenwood said: ‘In this case it was very clear from the recording just how terrified the three young ladies were.

‘One was disturbed in her bedroom while she was asleep. She woke up to find you in her room has an metre and a half or so away from her.

‘She ran up screaming to her sister and the friend who was there and all three of them were terrified of what might happen in the middle of the night in their own home.

‘They have indicated they have not recovered their sense of security. They find it difficult to get to sleep now.

‘One in particular has had to seek medical advice because she keeps waking up sweating thinking someone is in her room about to hurt her. It has affected every aspect of her life including her work and concentration.’
