Ben Higgins reveals he is back in his native Indiana after enduring ‘breakdown’

He recently purchased a home in Denver, Colorado.

But The Bachelor vet Ben Higgins has admitted he is back in his native Indiana after suffering a ‘breakdown’ over the next chapter of his life.   

During an interview on Trista Sutter’s podcast Better Etc., Ben, 32, admitted he had been in a ‘low place’ and struggling to gain clarity over his ‘next season’.

The reality vet also confessed he no longer identified with Bachelor Nation, six years after first shooting to fame as a contestant on The Bachelorette.   

‘I am back in Indiana right now because of a breakdown, again, in my life where I’m going, “I don’t know what’s happening.” I don’t know what this next season of life looks like for me,’ he said on Trista Sutter’s podcast Better Etc. 

‘I’m farther and farther removed from the show and then, at the same time, I need to figure out what my life’s gonna look like and what my legacy is going to be.’

His current emotional state does not involve his relationship with fiancee Jess Clarke, and his latest Instagram post indicates she is currently in Indiana with him. 

‘It’s a really exciting season. The seasons are unfamiliar to me, but it’s also really hard because I’m at a low place. I don’t see myself as this thriving figure right now. I’m kind of lamenting and separating myself from a lot of things that I’ve held close,’ he explained. 

Ben rose to fame as a contestant on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of The Bachelorette before becoming The Bachelor himself, where he found love with his now former fiancee Lauren Bushnell.

In the years to follow, Ben remained a beloved member of Bachelor Nation with his very own Bachelor-centric podcast co-hosted by fan favorite Ashley Iaconetti, The Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast.

But nowadays, Ben admits he feels more and more withdrawn from the franchise.   

While admitting the show was probably ‘the best thing that ever happened’ to him, Ben confessed it was ‘not really a piece of me anymore.’  

‘I don’t know how to make it my purpose now. I don’t know what to do with it anymore,’ he explained. 

‘It’s not really a piece of me anymore. I can talk about it, I can share my experience about it but ultimately, I was just telling Jess this the other day, I was like, “I feel like my only role in the Bachelor now is to be there for the contestants that want me to be there for them.”‘

Fortunately, Ben does have a lot to look forward to as he begins his new life with Jess. 

The couple announced last year they had purchased a home together in Denver Colorado. Ben, however, won’t be moving in until after they say ‘I do.’   

Last week the reality star gushed about his bride-to-be as he posted a photo of them walking through a serene, mountain view field.  

‘As wedding planning speeds up and the details come together (more updates on wedding planning soon) I just wanted to give us all a chance to admire my beautiful future bride! Lucky me.’
