Rachel Bilson admits she had ‘tension’ with The O.C. co-star Samaire Armstrong

Nearly 20 years after The O.C. debuted, Rachel Bilson is opening up about some ‘tension’ she had with co-star Samaire Armstrong.

The 39-year-old actress opened up about the 11th episode of the first season, entitled Homecoming, where Armstrong’s character Anna Stern kissed Adam Brody’s character, Seth Cohen.

Bilson and Brody were actually dating in real life, off and on starting in 2003, when the show debuted, before they split during Season 4 in 2006, with Bilson opening up about what happened with Armstrong on her Welcome to The O.C., B****es podcast.

‘When Seth is in the bedroom with Anna and she goes to kiss him, I see Samaire like slip tongue,’ Rachel said during the podcast.

‘I get transported back to 18 years ago and I get a little jealous,’ Bilson added of that specific moment.

She added that, ‘It was like the real-life triangle playing out as I’m watching it,’ while adding that it kind of felt like a real-life love triangle in real life, in a way.

‘I feel like it definitely played out a little bit in real life for a minute… even though not really really, but I remember the tension with Samaire and I like a little bit,’ Bilson added.

Welcome to The O.C., Bitches launched in late April, where Bilson and her friend and co-star Melinda Clarke revisit each of The O.C.’s 92 episodes.

This podcast episode featured Bilson and Clarke reminiscing with their co-star Kelly Rowan, who played Kristen Cohen on the show, the mother of Brody’s Seth.

Bilson had previously used the podcast in late May to apologize to her co-star Tate Donovan for, ‘being an a**hole’ on the set.

”I know some of us kids were little a**holes, you know, and I think that, that speaks to that whole unaware, young, youthful, ignorant, like just idiots,’ Bilson said on the fifth episode of the podcast.

‘And I hope I wasn’t as bad it’s come off. I hope I wasn’t because I really, you know, you get influenced, I’d say, by your surroundings,’ she added.

‘I thought you were so wonderful and such a wonderful director and like amazing human and all of it. So if I ever added to any of the a**holeness, I want to apologize on record,’ she continued.

Donovan responded, ‘Totally. Yeah… You can’t help but believe all the sort of hype and everyone gets caught up in, especially when you’re young.’

Bilson and Clarke release new episodes of Welcome to The O.C., B****es every Tuesday on Apple.
