Today: Karl Stefanovic and Ally Langdon laugh at ‘drunk’ guest David Walliams

Karl Stefanovic was famously a little worse for wear while hosting the Today show the morning after the 2009 Logies.

But he found himself on the other side of a tipsy TV appearance on Wednesday, as celebrity guest David Walliams admitted he was drunk for his live cross from the UK.

The loose interview left Karl, 46, and co-anchor Allison Langdon, 42, in stitches.

David began by admitting he’d just returned from a dinner, during which he’d met Sir Paul McCartney.

‘Just to warn you I’m a bit star-struck and a bit drunk,’ said the 49-year-old comedian.

‘Perfect! That’s the way we like to do the show,’ Karl assured him.

Speaking about his chance encounter with the former Beatle, David said: ‘He’s so fit and full of life, and really fun…

‘And he was of life, and really fun, and he was… he’s really happy to talk about The Beatles, which is good, because it would be awkward if he wasn’t.’

At least he's honest! 'Just to warn you I'm a bit star-struck and a bit drunk,' said David, 49, prompting laughter from Karl and Allison

The Come Fly with Me funnyman then spoke of his love of Australia, before forgetting the name of one of the country’s most famous beaches.

‘I remember just swimming in… in the sea and someone was swimming past me, what’s that famous beach everyone goes to?’ he said before trailing off.

‘Bondi Beach. That’s right!’ he continued. ‘This is why you shouldn’t drink wine before morning TV.’

Meanwhile, like all Sydneysiders, Karl is in the midst of a strict lockdown.

But the Channel Nine anchor appeared in great spirits on Saturday as he shared a video to Instagram from his new home in Castlecrag.

He busted a few dance moves in front of the TV after ordering cocktails from trendy Cantonese restaurant Mr Wong.

Filmed by wife Jasmine Stefanovic, 37, Karl cut a casual figure in a white polo shirt, dark pants and a paperboy cap.

He moved to the beat and made a number of animated facial expressions while holding bottles of liquor.

‘Lockdown, dad and mum. Thanks @mrwongsydney,’ Karl captioned the clip, as his shoe designer wife laughed in the background.

Karl and Jasmine finally moved into their new home in Castlecrag, on Sydney’s Lower North Shore, last week.

The couple took ownership of the property just two days before Sydney was forced into lockdown, reports Realestate.com.au.

The Stefanovics purchased the home in March for $3.2million after the house they’d been renting nearby was sold for more than $8million.

The new property, which the pair are expected to renovate, boasts views over Castlecrag’s north escarpment and is close to the village’s cafés and shops.

It includes a self-contained unit with a separate entry and its own bathroom.

They also own a holiday home on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, which they bought for $3.6million in January last year and travel to frequently.

Karl and Jasmine – along with their one-year-old daughter, Harper – divide their time between Sydney and Queensland.

The couple married in December 2018 in San José del Cabo, Mexico.
