Love Island AND Aftersun get pushed back for Euro 2020 final as the nation prepares to watch England take on Italy

Sunday’s episode of Love Island and its spin-off Aftersun have been postponed to allow fans to watch the Euro 2020 final.

In a history-making event, England is set to take on Italy at Wembley Stadium to see who will be crowned the winners of the tournament.

The game, which marks England’s first time in a Euro final, will air on ITV from 7.00pm to 10.35pm.

Holding off: Sunday’s episode of Love Island and its spin-off Aftersun have been postponed to allow fans to watch the Euro 2020 final

Love Island typically airs at 9pm at ITV2, but in order to avoid clashing with the football it has been pushed back to a 10pm start, with Aftersun, hosted by Laura Whitmore, airing from 11pm to 12.05am.

While the move will no doubt please fans who had planned on watching both events, the scheduled time change didn’t help hold onto viewers earlier this week.

Love Island lost 1.2 million viewers on Wednesday night when the public switched over to ITV to watch the England match instead.

The ITV2 dating show’s start time was pushed back to 10pm, but after the Euros clash against Denmark at Wembley went to extra time, viewing figures dwindled.

On Tuesday night’s Love Island episode, 2.2 million reality TV fans tuned in to watch the latest drama unfold as two new blonde bombshells entered the villa.

However that figure fell to just 941,000 on Wednesday night while England kept the nation on tender hooks until the end of extra time that finished at 10.35pm. This figure does not include views on the ITV Hub.

Meanwhile,  Love Island saw tensions rising on Thursday night as Chloe announced she had a soft spot for Toby, who has been coupled up with Kaz since day one.

This led to high drama in the villa as word got out – with Kaz branding Chloe a ‘snake in the grass’, Chloe locking horns with Faye over it, and Toby telling the boys he had ‘no sexual attraction’ to Kaz.

Toby then told Kaz he’d like to get to know Chloe before taking her off to the balcony to share a steamy smooch.
