He was the teen sensation who showed off his exceptional rapping skills on Australian Idol in 2003 and went on to release his hit These Kids, which reached the top spot on the ARIA charts that year.

But it didn’t take long for Beatboxing star Joel Turner to drop off the radar.  

The Sydney-based rapper most recently released music in April 2020 on YouTube and recently emerged on Facebook looking all grown up.

These days, the talented beatboxer who was known for his baby face, has a five o’clock shadow.

He has also devoted his time to improving his health, sharing incredible weight loss transformation pictures in March this year. 

‘Last year in June/July I was over 120kg. I took the 2nd photos at 102kg and I’m currently down to 98kg and still dropping,’ he began his post in March.

Joel noted that he wanted to lose weight in a bid to feel comfortable while performing on stage.

‘Noticed the difference at my show last week! Getting down to my goal weight of 85 to 90kg so I can enjoy performing,’ he recently wrote on Facebook, alongside photos of his transformation.

‘If you slip up just remember to forgive yourself and jump back on it! I hope everyone has a great 2021!!’ he added. 

It appears Joel is still in contact with Australian Idol judge Mark Holden, who shared a positive comment on the post, writing: ‘Good on you Joel !!!! Congrats bud, M.’

In October 2020, Mark told the Adelaide Now that he was working on documentary to do with Joel.  

Australian Idol is returning to television after a 12-year hiatus.

The talent show is famous for discovering a string of top-selling artists, including Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Casey Donovan, Matt Corby and Ricki-Lee Coulter.

While it used to air on Channel Ten, it has been picked up by Channel Seven this time around.
