She’s vying for farmer Sam Messina’s heart on this season of Farmer Wants a Wife.

And on Monday, Mackenzie Phillips revealed the real reason why she signed up for the dating show.

The 24-year-old oncology nurse told The Daily Telegraph, she decided to apply for the series because she would like to start her own family.

‘Throughout my career as an oncology nurse, I have seen couples battle through the sickness and health that they vow to do on their wedding day,’ she explained.

‘Within that there are many challenges and milestones that they overcome together and this strengthens their love and their bond. This has definitely inspired me to try and find a relationship like that for myself.’

Mackenzie is currently vying for farmer Sam’s affection on the dating series.

Last week, the bearded hunk was called out for leaving a hickey on Mackenzie’s neck after their private hook-up.

After being scolded by his own harem, a nervous-looking Sam tried to diffuse the situation by suggesting Mackenzie’s hickey was just a rash.

While being ambushed by the women competing for his attention, Sam reluctantly admitted he had ‘hooked up’ with Mackenzie.

Meanwhile, viewers were equally unimpressed by his schoolboy antics, with one commenting on Twitter: ‘A hickey? C’mon mate. What is this, high school?’
