Kim Kardashian ‘demands’ TikTok’s That Girl Lay Lay, 14, take down video with daughter North West, 8

TikTok star That Girl Lay Lay called out Kim Kardashian for allegedly demanding she take down a music video featuring her now eight-year-old daughter North West but she and estranged husband Kanye West were never asked for permission according to a new report.

That Girl Lay Lay had posted a video featuring the eldest daughter of Kim and Kanye West, who was six at the time, during a playdate last year featuring music from one of her new rap songs.

The teenager – who just landed her own Nickelodeon series – went on to claim on social media that Kim, 40, texted her forcing her to take down the clip without explanation after having previously invited her to their home.

However, a source close to Kim and 44-year-old Kanye told TMZ on Tuesday that they had never given permission for North to be featured in the music video and believe Lay Lay’s team used old footage of North for publicity.

The insider explained: ‘Lay Lay’s dad refuses to release the music video without footage of North because he is clearly trying to use her image as a source of publicity which is why North’s parents have an issue to begin with.

‘It’s a matter of principle at this point and the answer is still no. He cannot use footage that was filmed of North taken inside her home during what should have been an innocent child’s play date for commercial purposes.’

Regarding Lay Lay’s claim that Kim texted her directly asking to take the video down, TMZ reports that it was actually Kim’s friend and CMO of KKW Brands Tracy Romulus.

Romulus had also taken to respond to claims made by Lay Lay on social media as she wrote: ‘To be clear it was me who contacted Lay Lay’s dad, grown up to grown up. Kim never reached out to this child.

‘I’m sorry it was not explained to her in a way for her to understand (because I very clearly explained to the dad) but Lay Lay was invited over 1 YEAR ago for a private child’s play date – not to be filmed and for that footage to be used in a music video over 1 year later.’

North had previously been featured dancing in the background of an Instagram video posted by Lay Lay in March 2020 featuring her track Supersize XL.

Romulus went on to explain: ‘The play date came about because North was a fan and loved to cover her songs. Kim invited Lay Lay over to their home not knowing they would want to film North – however North’s parents did allow for 1 Tik Tok to be posted after the plate date ended and It was learned that they had filmed her for several of them.’

She went on to reiterate the claim that footage of North was posted without permission.

Romulus concluded: ‘As Lay Lay grows older and she continues to have a career in this industry she will have to learn that nobody can film you and use your image without permission.

‘North is an 8 year old child who is not on social media and it is well within her parent’s rights to say how and when their daughter’s image can be used for promotional purposes just like it’s well within Lay Lay’s parent’s rights to say yes or no when it comes to their child’s image.’

Lay Lay’s mom, Antanique Landry,  backed up Romulus’ claim that her daughter was not in contact with Kim directly.

On Monday she took to her Instagram Story to write: ‘LAY LAY DID NOT make that post, nor did she KNOW that post was made. Lay Lay is NOT in contact with Kim! Lay Lay’s IG account is NOT managed by ME!’

According to TMZ, Lay Lay feels ‘hurt’ and wants Kim to let her repost the video as she doesn’t think there was a  good reason for it to have been taken down in the first place.

The publication claims that Lay Lay’s father – rapper Acie High – had asked Kim and Kanye for permission to use the footage of North months ago but had not heard back by this month so he decided to post it as he believed that it would not be an issue as they had approved a video previously.

The source for the famous pair claimed to TMZ that they had never received any communication requesting permission.
