Anne Hathaway looked unrecognizable on the NYC set of her forthcoming AppleTV+ series WeCrashed, based on the downfall of office-space startup WeWork.
The 38-year-old actress, who plays the wife of WeWork CEO Adam Neumann, was seen dressed as Neytiri, the female humanoid from James Cameron’s sci-fi film Avatar.
Hathaway was joined on set by her costar America Ferrera, who rocked a Mummy costume for Tuesday night’s shoot in the city.

Anne’s transformation into Neytiri, originally portrayed by Zoe Saldana in Cameron’s 2009 film, required her to rock facial prosthetics and blue face paint.
She slipped her slender frame into a blue bodysuit and had her hair styled in a myriad of beaded braids that flowed down her chest and back.
There was also a bow and arrow slung across Anne’s body and some strappy leather sandals on her feet.

In between takes, the Devil Wears Prada star could be seen chatting on her cellphone in her elaborate Avatar-inspire garb.
Ferrera, 37, didn’t have to stroll around set in face paint, but she did have to rock a bodysuit and several strands of gauze in order to achieve ultimate mummy costume.
The Superstore star carried her mummy mask in her hand as she was seen returning from break with Hathaway.
The pair grabbed a quick meal at a nearby eatery, with America returning with a plate and a to-go cup to set.

The forthcoming AppleTV+ series tells the infamous story of the rise and spectacular fall of WeWork, the communal workspace startup that was initially one of the world’s most valuable nascent companies.
Jared Leto plays CEO Adam Neumann, while Hathaway plays his wife Rebekah. Ferrera’s character remains unknown.
WeWork was at one time valued at $90 billion by Goldman Sachs, though the value would later be drastically slashed, according to the New York Post.

WeWork cratered after concerns about self-dealing and drug use on the part of founder Adam Neumann came to light in 2019, and he was forced to step down from the company with an enormous golden parachute including $245 million in stock, $200 million in cash, and refinancing on a $432 million loan, the Wall Street Journal reported at the time.
Amid WeWork’s collapse, Rebekah (played by Hathaway) was forced to step down from WeGrow, a Manhattan school she created, which closed shortly after her husband’s conduct came to light.
The IMDb synopsis of WeCrashed says the series will follow ‘the greed-filled rise and inevitable fall of WeWork, one of the world’s most valuable startups, and the narcissists whose chaotic love made it all possible.’
Coincidentally, Rebekah is first cousins with another Academy Award-winning actress, none other than Gwyneth Paltrow.
