Gavin Wanganeen was eliminated from Australian Survivor on Tuesday night.

‘It’s just so early to be blindsided, that’s the hardest thing,’ the 48-year-old told The Herald Sun.

‘I was in absolute shock at tribal council when my name got called out. There were no discussions whatsoever it was such a good blindside,’ he added.

‘I didn’t think they’d go for me out of the other two because I was so nice to everyone.’

The Essendon and Port Adelaide player says he was undone by being a ‘nice guy’ however says he has no regrets.

‘I don’t regret going harder because it was still so early in the game. If you go hard so early it could backfire as well,’ he said.

Gavin was ousted after his tribemate Kerryn Mcgee used a hidden immunity idol at tribal council.

She received the most votes to be eliminated – however because she had immunity, they did not count.

Instead, the votes for footballer Gavin were enough to oust him – and he looked visibly shocked by the result.

He said to himself: ‘I did not see that coming,’ as his torch was put out by host Jonathan LaPaglia.

Earlier in the episode, Gavin admitted he found all the conspiring between the tribemates baffling.

‘This game is so confusing. Like, seriously. Conversations were happening left, right and centre – I didn’t know what was going on,’ he admitted.
