Emma Stone and husband Dave McCary will produce a new A24 Films comedy with Tilda Swinton starring and SNL’s Julio Torres directing

Just months after welcoming their first child, Emma Stone and Dave McCary are getting back to work, producing a movie together.

Stone, 32, and McCary, 36, have come aboard to produce an untitled comedy from A24 Films, with Saturday Night Live‘s Julio Torres making his feature writing and directing debut, via The Hollywood Reporter.

Tilda Swinton is attached to star in the project, which is still in early stages with the plot being kept under wraps.

Stone and McCary will produce through their Fruit Tree Productions company, which they formed in August 2020, with a first-look TV deal with A24 Films. 

Their first project under the pact is an adaptation of The Shadows, the debut thriller novel by Stacy Willingham.

McCary and Torres have collaborated in the past, with McCary serving as a segment director on Saturday Night Live from 2013 to 2019, and Torres serving as a writer from 2017 to 2019.

McCary also directed Torres’ 2019 HBO comedy special My Favorite Shapes as well.

Stone and McCary’s first feature project is also through their deal with A24, entitled When You Finish Saving The World.

That project marks the directorial debut of her Zombieland co-star Jesse Eisenberg, which stars Finn Wolfhard and Julianne Moore.

Stone was also nominated for a PGA award for producing the Netflix series Maniac which she also starred in, and she also produced her new movie Cruella.

The actress also stars in and executive produces a new series entitled The Curse along with co-creators/co-stars Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie. 

She will also return in front of the camera for Yorgos Lanthimos’ new film Poor Things with Willem Dafoe, Mark Ruffalo, Jerrod Carmichael and Ramy Yousef.

Swinton will next be seen in Wes Anderson’s new film The French Dispatch, which just debuted at the Cannes Film Festival.

She also had another film debut at Cannes, director Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Memoria, which won the Jury Prize at the festival.

The actress will next be seen in writer-director Joanna Hogg’s ghost story entitled The Eternal Daughter.
