Jason Momoa reveals his Aquaman character Arthur Curry is going blonde for the sequel: ‘They supposedly have more fun’


It looks like Aqua Man is getting a makeover of sorts for the sequel film, Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom, which is currently shooting in London, England.

Not long after touching down in the UK on Sunday, star Jason Momoa took to Instagram and revealed to fans that his character, Arthur Curry, is undergoing a transformation and becoming blonde.  

‘I am finally in England. It is sunny out, it’s amazing. I’m gonna start Aquaman 2 tomorrow,’ the leading man began in a video posted to his Instagram.

He then added that ‘this is the last day of the brown. I’m gonna be a blonde.’

After delivering the news of his character’s blonde ambitions, Momoa delivered the cliche line whenever someone is about to switch to blonde locks.

‘They [Blondes] supposedly have more fun. I don’t know about that, we’ll test it out,’ he said in a little tongue-in-cheek. 

‘I’m excited to see James, and to see the whole cast,’ he added, in a reference to director and producer James Wan, who was also at the helm for the first installment, Aquaman (2018), which went on to became a massive hit, earning $1.148 billion.

He proceeded to send his love to all his ‘friends, castmembers and crew at See’, which is his Apple TV+ science fiction drama series that he just wrapped on shooting season two in Toronto, Canada.

The Hawaiian native also took the time to thank fans for supporting his Harley-Davidson line.  

‘It’s a 118-year-old company; everything’s made in America, and I’m really excited they let me put a little of my Hawaiian roots into it. I love you Harley. Mahalo.’

He ended the post by trying to rally up the excitement for the Aquaman sequel, which will also star Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm Marius, Dolph Lundgren playing King Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as David Kane / Black Manta, and Temuera Morrison in the role of Thomas Curry, Arthur’s father.

Earlier this month, Momoa congratulated Heard after she revealed that she welcomed her first baby, daughter Oonagh Paige, on April 8, with the help of a surrogate.

‘Here we come Aquaman 2… yeah.,’ he concluded the Instagram post in his heightened mock tough guy voice. 

Filming officially began on the sequel film in mid-June, with Wan marking the occasion by sharing a slate in front of what looked to be a frosty set. 

Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom is scheduled to be released on December 16, 2022.
