Lisa Wilkinson promises to expose juicy details of her most controversial moments in autobiography

The Project host Lisa Wilkinson has lifted the lid on her upcoming autobiography.

The book, titled It Wasn’t Meant to Be Like This, will document Lisa’s rise to fame as a journalist and include juicy details about her most controversial career moments.

Sharing the book’s cover to Instagram on Monday, Lisa, 61, told fans: ‘I’ve been working on something that is very close to my heart over the last couple of years – in fact, when I think about it, I’ve been working on this my entire life.’

‘Now, you’ll know the truth’: Lisa Wilkinson, 61, has promised to expose juicy details of her most controversial career moments in her upcoming autobiography, It Wasn’t Meant to Be Like This

‘It’s my autobiography, and I’m excited (and just a little bit terrified) to be sharing the cover with you today,’ she wrote.

On the book’s cover, an age-defying Lisa is seen posing in a white long-sleeved blouse while shooting the camera a coy smile.

‘It’s called It Wasn’t Meant to Be Like This, and tells the story of how this magazine-junkie kid from (proudly) the western suburbs of Sydney, worked hard to survive the bumps and bruises of my teenage years, and went on to find myself in situations and places I could have once only ever dreamt about,’ she continued.

'I've completely opened up': Lisa says her book will take an unprecedented look behind her glossy media image, and perhaps unearth some surprising details about the 'real' Lisa

She promised her book will take an unprecedented look behind her glossy media image, and perhaps unearth some surprising details about the ‘real’ Lisa.

‘In it, I’ve completely opened up on things I’ve never talked about before, not even with some of my closest girlfriends. I share the roller coaster ride of joys, and sadnesses, the pinch-myself moments, and the hard lessons I’ve had to learn along the way,’ she wrote.

‘I’ve left no stone unturned, particularly when it comes to some of the more public moments you’ve seen in the headlines. Now, you’ll know the truth,’ she concluded.

Fans are no doubt hoping Lisa’s book will address her controversial exit from Nine in 2017 after a decade hosting the Today show alongside Karl Stefanovic.

She quit Today because Karl was reportedly earning more than $2million, whereas she was on a $1.1million-per-year contract.

The network was supposedly only willing to increase her salary to $1.8million, but she demanded pay parity.

When Nine wouldn’t budge, she quit and jumped ship to Channel 10.
