Today: Karl Stefanovic takes brutal swipe at Prince Harry’s $20M memoir

‘Will it be his story or Meghan’s?’ Today host Karl Stefanovic takes a BRUTAL swipe at Prince Harry as he prepares to release explosive ‘$20million’ memoir

Today show host Karl Stefanovic took a savage dig at Prince Harry while discussing his plans to write an explosive Megxit memoir, which will hit shelves next year.

The Duke of Sussex, 36, has been secretly working on the book about his life in the Royal Family for nearly a year after landing a book deal said to be worth $20million.

Discussing the book with Today’s LA correspondent Sam Rubin on Tuesday, Stefanovic asked: ‘Is it really going to be his story or Meghan Markle‘s?’

This wry remark implied Harry was writing the memoir – which will no doubt be critical of the Royal Family – at the request of his wife, the Duchess of Sussex.

However, Rubin refuted this suggestion, saying it’s more likely Meghan will want to write a multimillion-dollar book of her own.

‘That’s an interesting question because we don’t want to preclude her own book deal, so I suspect it will be more of his story and maybe how they felt,’ he explained.

Stefanovic then turned his attention to the Sussexes’ double standards when it comes to the media.

‘It doesn’t serve him well to be anti-media and to go and do exclusive deals and write memoirs that only invite criticism,’ he observed.

His co-host Allison Langdon agreed, noting how Harry and Meghan said they wanted a quiet life away from the spotlight but ‘can’t live without the media attention’.

‘They both thrive on it and they both need it,’ Langdon said, adding: ‘I don’t have anything else to say… the poor Queen.’

Prince Harry confirmed on Monday he was penning an intimate memoir that will expose the ‘mistakes’ and ‘lessons learned’ during his life.

‘I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become,’ he said.

‘I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story – the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned – I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.

‘I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a firsthand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful.’

Experts have told DailyMail.com that Harry will have been given ‘at least’ a $20million (£14.6million) advance for the memoir, with millions more to be made in sales.
