I gave up smoking years ago, but can’t shift the bad lines

Shh! Anti-agers no one but you need know about: I gave up smoking years ago, but can’t shift the bad lines

  • An anonymous reader asked for advice on choosing a treatment for fine lines
  • Inge van Lotringen spoke to Dr Sarah Tonks for recommendations
  • Dr Sarah suggests either Viscoderm Hydrobooster or Nordyx Mono Threads

Q: I’m 78 years young and have lots of fine lines radiating from my lips, making my beloved red lipstick run. I gave up smoking years ago! Can you suggest any treatments?

A: These are indeed ‘smoker’s lines’, and they’re a challenge to treat! But, says Dr Sarah Tonks, there are options.

One is Viscoderm Hydrobooster, a plumping gel that’s injected directly into the lines, filling them out.

An anonymous reader asked Inge van Lotringen for advice on choosing the best treatment for ‘smoker’s line’ (file image)

‘It smooths the area for six months, but it’s very technique-sensitive,’ she warns. ‘Inject too much and you can get ridges.’

So find an experienced doctor who can show you great pictures of their results. Dr Tonks charges £795 per session (you need two) at thelovelyclinic.com, or call 020 8455 4896 to find a clinic near you.

Dr Tonks also loves Nordyx Mono Threads, tiny wires made of a surgical material (called PLACL) that stimulates collagen production (email info@nordyx threads.com to find your nearest clinic).

‘Injected around the lips, they minimise folds instantly and improve skin texture over time; the wires dissolve within a year, but results last two years.’

It costs £695 with Dr Tonks, who likes combining threads and the Hydrobooster.
