George Clooney supports business owners in Laglio, Italy near his Lake Como villa after extreme weather leads to floods and mudslides
George Clooney was snapped supporting townspeople in the Italian town Laglio, after extreme weather battered the area earlier this week, causing flooding and mudslides in the area near his 18th-century Lake Como villa.
The Oscar-winner, 60, posed with local business owners on Tuesday clad in a navy blue polo shirt with blue jeans and olive sneakers, sporting a beard.
The visit came after first responders evacuated more than 60 people as the area Tuesday was battered by extreme weather, according to the AP, leaving it covered in mud, logs and detritus.

‘This city is strong, it will react … this is a very resilient city,’ Clooney said while surveying the area, according to the Italian outlet Viv Milano.
The A-list actor, who resides in the area with wife Amal, 43, and twins Alexander and Ella, four, said the damage in the area presented a daunting rebuilding task.
‘It’s worse than I thought … there will be a lot of work, it will take millions of dollars, but this city is strong, it will react and return better than before,’ he said.
Local firefighters conducted evacuations including an older woman who was barricaded inside her home. Officials said that no deaths or injuries were reported, according to the AP.

Italy’s largest farmers’ association Coldiretti said the country is ‘facing … the consequences of climate change, with a trend toward tropicalization and the multiplication of extreme events.’
The organization said that the mercurial storm cycle and resultant flooding has been responsible for $16.5 billion impacting agriculture, buildings and infrastructure.
Almost 100 vehicles were damaged amid hailstones that smashed windshields, according to Coldiretti.
‘The dimension of the hailstones also has changed, growing considerably in the last years with real ice blocks falling from the sky – even bigger than tennis balls,’ the organization said.
