New York rock band Blondie joins crypto craze with a new art series

Blondie has joined the crypto craze with a new art series.

The New York rock band revealed a piece of digital artwork produced with creative duo Hackatao.

Named Hack The Borders, it is partly inspired by Andy Warhol and features cartoon images of the band’s singer Debbie Harry.

Music by Blondie guitarist Chris Stein accompanies the image, along with a poem written and spoken by Harry, 76.

The work is a so-called ‘non-fungible token’ (NFT) and will be released on August 6, via auction platform Nifty Gateway.

NFTs are unique computer files linked to photos, songs, works of art and other media, seen by some as the digital answer to collectibles.

They exist on the blockchain, an online ledger system that records transactions publicly, and can be traded freely.
