Justin Bieber sends supportive message to Simone Biles after she pulls out of Tokyo Summer Olympics to address her mental health

Justin Bieber sent a message to support to Simone Biles after the gymnast pulled out of the Tokyo Summer Olympics to address her mental health.

‘Nobody will ever understand the pressures you face!’ Bieber, 27, captioned the Instagram post Wednesday, which featured an image of the 24-year-old Olympian. ‘I know we don’t know each other but I’m so proud of the decision to withdraw.’

He continued: ‘It’s as simple as – what does it mean to gain the whole world but forfeit your soul. Sometimes our no’s are more powerful than our yes’s. When what you normally love starts to steal your joy it’s important we take a step back to evaluate why.’

The Canadian pop star referenced his own premature exit from his Purpose World Tour in July of 2017, in a decision made with his mental health in mind.

‘People thought I was crazy for not finishing the purpose tour but it was the best thing I could have done for my mental health!!’ the Peaches singer wrote. ‘So proud of you @simonebiles.’

Following his exit from the tour, Bieber said in an August 2017 Instagram post that he was thinking long-term in his decision to cease it.

‘I’ve learned the more you appreciate your calling the more you want to protect your calling,’ he said. ‘Me taking this time right now is me saying I want to be SUSTAINABLE… so that I can be the man I want to be, the husband I eventually want to be, and the father I want to be.’

On Wednesday, USA Gymnastics announced that Biles was leaving the competition after one rotation.

The organization said: ‘Simone has withdrawn from the team final competition due to a medical issue. She will be assessed daily to determine medical clearance for future competitions.’

Speaking with the Today show, Biles said she felt good and in shape amid her exit: ‘Emotionally, that kind of varies on the time and moment.

‘Coming to the Olympics and being head star isn’t an easy feat, so we’re just trying to take it one day at a time and we’ll see.’
