Maisie Smith has reflected on her EastEnders character Tiffany Butcher’s decision to get facial fillers due to the ‘pressures’ of being a teenager.
The actress, 20, said her character – who is 18 years old on the show – ‘has a lot of insecurities’ and so decides to go behind her husband Keegan Baker’s back to pay for more cosmetic procedures.
She told Digital Spy: ‘She’s an 18 year old, she’s been through a lot as a character and she’s quite insecure about herself.

‘Then Keegan’s job has been taking off, he’s really been doing well for himself and it’s making Tiffany question herself and if she’s enough for him.’
Speaking about how Tiffany’s troubles are common among young women, Maisie added: ‘She’s a very relatable character on the show.
‘She’s young, she’s in love, and she’s got a lot of pressure on her as well as being a teenager and being hormonal and experiencing what a normal teenager would experience. She’s got a lot of insecurities in herself.’

However she may be forced to stop getting the fillers after suffering from an allergic reaction to one of the procedures that could be the ‘last straw’.
Discussing Tiffany’s decision she said that ‘anyone can tell you that you look beautiful’ but you can struggle to believe it if you ‘have a problem with yourself’.
It come as it looks as though Keegan and Tiffany’s marriage is on the rocks as he is set to cheat on her by sharing a smooch with Dotty Cotton.

First look snaps from Monday show Keegan leaning in for a smooch with Dotty after learning about Tiffany’s credit card debt, and it remains to be seen whether their turbulent marriage can survive.
Keegan is furious to find out that Tiffany spent hundreds of pounds on facial filler injections without his knowledge.
Having vowed to pay back her racked-up credit card debts, the incident is enough to leave Keegan bewildered and feeling that he may not be able to support her.
Vinny Panesar and Keegan later agree that they don’t understand women and soon Keegan confronts Dotty about the way she’s been acting towards his pal.

In next week’s episodes, things will develop into a downwards spiral for the protagonists when it comes to light that Tiffany has been supplying his sister Bernie Taylor with dangerous diet pills.
When she is rushed to hospital after collapsing, Tiffany will be at the receiving end of Keegan’s wrath, furious at her for her part in the health scare – and for getting even more cosmetic work done.
Worried about an infection she’s developed from her latest procedure, this will only add to her long list of problems.

At a nightclub, Dotty will confront Vinny for telling Keegan about their issues, but she’ll be left feeling awful after he reveals his true feelings.
While picking up his wages, Keegan will soon find his tough day aligning with Dotty’s after her awkward conversation with Vinny, and she’ll later drunkenly offer him a drink.
Meanwhile, Tiffany will be at home continuing to feel terrible, and despite her attempts to call Keegan and smooth things over, he fails to answer.
Unbeknownst to her, Keegan is enjoying a steamy smooch with Dotty after the pair enjoy a drink together, and it remains to be seen whether he opts to come clean to his wife.
EastEnders airs these scenes on Tuesday, August 3rd and Thursday, August 5th on BBC One.
