Off the market! McLeod’s Daughters star Doris Younane, 58, has sold her three-bedroom church hall conversion in the Adelaide suburb of Rosewater for $520,000. The spacious combined living and dining room includes original church pews for the dining table

The property’s biggest drawcard is the spacious combined living and dining room, which includes original church pews for the dining table.

Alongside the wall is a large mirror with 100-year-old ballet barres, which are said to originate from a studio in Melbourne.

Elsewhere, there is large feature wall made of timber panelling that houses the TV, stacks of CDs and a surfboard.

The home also includes polished floors and high-set windows that allow natural light to flow throughout the combined living space.

Doris and her husband, Bill Papakostantis, bought the home in 2007 and lived there when she was filming McLeod’s Daughters in Kingsford, north of Adelaide.

The couple lived in the next-door church conversion, which they sold in 2020 for $425,000, and used the hall as a studio space for acting classes.

They moved to Melbourne in 2012 and rented out both the church and church hall conversions to tenants.

Doris said that while she was sad to sell her former home, she and Bill were looking forward to buying a new property in Melbourne.

‘It’s an alternative way of living, but for me it was really magical and there was a calmness about it. It’s a little piece of heaven,’ she said.
