McDonald’s is offering fans Chicken McNuggets for just 99p on Sunday, to celebrate the Men’s 100M Final in the Olympics

The 100M world record holder, Usain Bolt, ate an estimated 1,000 McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets during the Bejing Olympics in 2008 – munching on 100 across breakfast, lunch and dinner over 10 days in the Olympic Village.

To celebrate, on Sunday 1st August, My McDonald’s App users across the UK can get 6 x Chicken McNuggets for just 99p – an offer worth sprinting to take advantage of.

The 2.70 saving is available exclusively on the My McDonald’s App,  so customer ordering in store, or via Deliveroo, JustEat and UberEats won’t be able to take advantage of the offer. 

Writing in his biography, ‘The Fastest Man Alive, Bolt explained why he opted for chicken during his Olympics that caused him to break three World Records and take home three Gold medals. 

‘Honestly, I ate nothing else in all my time out in China except chicken nuggets,’ Bolt wrote in, They were the only food I could properly trust which wouldn’t affect my stomach. 

‘On arriving at the [pre-Olympic] training camp I’d tried a local Chinese meal, which wasn’t like the ones we we eat in the West, and my body didn’t react well. 

‘So, knowing I could rely on nuggets, i made up my mind that was all I would eat. And eat them I did, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, washed down with bottled water.’

 Restaurants are open for walk-in, takeaway, and customers can order via the Drive-thru, McDelivery and Click & Serve using the My McDonald’s App.

It comes as McDonald’s has delighted fans by launching a BBQ Quarter Pounder with Cheese as part of its new menu which is available in stores across the UK now.

The summer heatwave might be over for now but McDonald’s is still bringing those BBQ vibes with the launch of the it’s new burger for £5.09. 

Made with 100 per cent British & Irish beef, two slices of melted cheese, fresh onions, pickles and the delicious combination of ketchup, mustard and BBQ sauce.

Vegetarians won’t miss out either and cheese lovers can wave goodbye to Mozzarella Dippers and say hello to the delicious Garlic Cheese Bites, which will be available in both a single portion of five for £1.89 – or a sharebox for £5.09.

Two new McFlurry flavours with Aero Chocolate and Aero Mint McFlurry will leave the menu to make way for the delicious Twix and Mars McFlurry to return.

Take your pick this summer with smooth dairy ice cream, swirled together with your choice of Mars or Twix chocolate pieces and a caramel sauce. 

Both will be available in Regular (£1.49) and Mini (99p) sizes.
