Angela Bassett cuts a chic figure in a tan suit at an advanced screening of the documentary Ailey

Angela Bassett once again showed off her age-defying beauty while supporting the work of legendary dancer and choreographer Alvin Ailey Jr. on Sunday.

The 62-year-old Black Panther star look stylish in a striking tan suit as she arrived at The Music Center in Downtown Los Angeles.

Joining the film star were other acting luminaries including Debbie Allen and English actress Marianne Jean-Baptiste.

Angela looked sleek in her low-key suit, with a casual zip-up jacket with wide lapels.

She dressed the outfit down with a simple white top, and her pants looked relaxed thanked to elastic around the waist and hems.

The Oscar nominee elevated her 5ft4in stature with silver-toed white Gucci wedges.

She added some sparkle to her look with large hoop earrings, which were mostly concealed behind her lustrous dark hair, which was styled in delicate waves over her her shoulders.

She paused at the screening to catch up with fellow actress Marianne Jean-Baptiste.

The In Fabric star rocked a simple black dress, which she brightened up with a white shawl decorated with gray, red and yellow stripes.

She stayed comfortable with gray-and-black Nike trainers, and she wore her colorful patterned mask around her neck for easy access. 

Joining Marianne was her husband Evan Williams, a dancer.

He dressed down with a black graphic T-shirt, and he kept his black mask on while outside to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus and the more-contagious Delta variant.

The longtime couple were spotted with Fame star Debbie Allen.

She looked glamorous in a plunging black dress with a frilled neckline, and she spiced up her mask with sparkling studs.

Angela also showed her support by joining Jamila Wignot, who directed and produced the documentary they were about to see, on the red carpet.

The filmmaker looked relaxed in a lovely blue blazer, which she wore over a black jumpsuit and a gray–blue blouse.

Jamila brought her mother, who matched her in blue, to celebrate her accomplishment. 

Wignot’s documentary Ailey, which premiered to critical acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival, charts the life and career of the iconoclastic Black dancer and choreographer Alvin Ailey

Among his many creations is the dance piece Revelations, which charts the African American experience through spirituals and gospel music and is one of the most widely performed modern dance pieces in the world.

Ailey died of an AIDS-related illness in 1989, but the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has continued to perform his choreography and new works.
