Lautaro Martinez’s agent reiterates star striker is happy at Inter Milan amid Barcelona rumours

The agent of highly-coveted Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has once again refused to entertain the idea of the star leaving the San Siro at the end of the season.

Martinez’s superb form in Serie A has reportedly caught the eye of several European giants, including Barcelona and Manchester City, with a bidding war expected to be sparked into life this summer. 

The 22-year-old’s agent has played down speculation of a switch, but also revealed that any player would wish to feature alongside Catalan icon Lionel Messi.

Martinez also broke into the Argentinian international fold after a memorable two-year stint since moving to Inter in 2018, and formed a formidable partnership with Romelu Lukaku under the stewardship of boss Antonio Conte.

And his exploits resulted in heavy speculation that the Camp Nou outfit would attempt an ambitious swoop when the transfer window eventually re-opens.

Beto Yaque conceded that he has been contacted by several interested parties. 

‘So many people have called me from Spain, England and Italy,’ he told 947 FM Radio.

‘We read comments and rumours in the press, but we don’t know anything. He’s fine where he is.

‘If I said I knew something about it, I’d be lying. He just wants to play football and score goals. We haven’t talked about a transfer to another club or his contract with Inter.

‘We talk to various people from other teams and, out of respect for them, we’ve met them and got to know each other, but none of it’s been formal.’

Renowned superstar Messi recently savaged rumours that he was set to move to either Inter or Newell’s Old Boys, and labelled the reports as ‘fake news’ on social media.

And Yaque admitted that it would be the dream of countless stars to play in the same team as Messi.

He added: ‘Who wouldn’t like to play with Messi? Lautaro is very reserved, he keeps a low profile.

‘It wouldn’t surprise me if the big clubs wanted him: this is football, the market exists.’

Current Barcelona ace Luis Suarez previously revealed he would welcome the potential competition from Martinez, saying: ‘Lautaro is a player who has been growing a lot in Italy, he is a ‘nine’ who has movements that are spectacular and that reflects how great a striker he is.

‘It is not that I feel compatible with them but that I’m happy that the club wants to bring in players who come to help and fulfil the same objective as everyone else, that of wanting to win everything.’
