Laura Kenny was left with a bloody face after crashing in the omnium scratch race at the Track Cycling World Championships.

Britain’s most successful female Olympian was taken out just before the last of 30 laps and was left with a nasty cut near her right eye.

Kenny was immediately tested for concussion putting her participation in the rest of Friday’s omnium in doubt.

Laura Kenny, riding four weeks on from a broken shoulder, had another nasty crash on Friday

The four-time Olympic gold medallist broke her shoulder at a World Cup event in Canada last month and she had admitted her return for the World Championships was a risk.

Kenny finished fourth in Wednesday’s scratch race and then rode in yesterday’s women’s team pursuit semi-final, before making way for the final, which Great Britain lost to USA to claim silver.

Friday’s scratch race was the first of four events which make up the omnium, with Kenny hoping to win a second medal here in Berlin.

Dutch woman Kirsten Wild was relegated for causing the crash, which took out Kenny and four other riders.

A bloodied Kenny was able to return to her feet but Mexican rider Lizbeth Salazar was carried off on a stretcher.

More to follow.
