Portuguese tax authorities search Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes’ house in investigation into money laundering

Jorge Mendes’ house in Portugal has been searched by Portuguese tax authorities as part of an investigation into money laundering.

Mendes represents an array of leading names in the football world, including Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo and Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho.

Portuguese publication Sabado reported the incident on Wednesday, saying that his offices in Porto and Lisbon, as well as residencies in Porto, were searched.

It was also reported that a number of leading clubs were also targeted. 

They say that clubs such as Porto, Benfica, Sporting Lisbon and Braga have also been searched by authorities looking for digital and paper documents.

Sabado says that the crux of the investigation relates to image rights of players.
