Hollywood and the NBA remain shut down, but Space Jam 2 remains on schedule.

The film’s star and producer LeBron James took to social media on Thursday with a brief clip in which he wore a promotional cap for the film that revealed the film’s full title, Space Jam: A New Legacy.

The NBA superstar added a series of related emojis, including a bunny, carrot, movie camera, popcorn and a crown.

WNBA athletes in the motion picture include Los Angeles Sparks players (and sisters) Chiney and Nneka Ogwumike, and the Phoenix Mercury’s Diana Taurasi.

James told the Road Trippin’ podcast last month that he and his team on the film were ‘kind of ok’ in being able to work on the motion picture with nearly all of Hollywood shut down in an effort to flatten the curve of infections from the virus.

‘A lot of it right now is animation, so being indoors is actually great for us,’ said James, who is making the film through his production company, SpringHill Entertainment. ‘So we’re still on. Just like everything in the world, everything is slowed down a little bit, but we’re still on target. I’m looking forward to it.’

James said in a perfect world, he would be able to stream the highly-anticipated sequel to the 1996 Michael Jordan film now, at a time the majority of Americans remain under strict lockdown orders.

‘During this time right now, I wish we could release it right now, man, and give people some things to watch in their households,’ said James, who’s in the second year of a four-year $154 million contract with the Lakers. ‘But we got until next year, next summer. We’re excited about it.’

The original Space Jam was released November 15, 1996, and took in more than $230 million around the world, with more than $90 million in the states.

It starred Jordan as himself and featured actors Wayne Knight and Theresa Randle in a partially-animated motion picture featuring Looney Tunes characters and cameos from NBA icons including Larry Bird, Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning and Charles Barkley.
