Carrie Bickmore, Dave Hughes and George Calombaris list their multimillion-dollar homes for rent

Australians are taking home reduced pay packets or being stood down from employment during the coronavirus crisis.

And it appears the nation’s celebrities aren’t immune from feeling the pinch, too, with many of them listing their multimillion-dollar homes for rent amid the pandemic.

According to Domain on Wednesday, celebrities including Carrie Bickmore, Dave Hughes and George Calombaris have all listed their extravagant homes.

Carrie Bickmore is looking for full-time tenants for her $3million Byron Bay home.

After previously renting the property out for $1,200-a-night to holidaymakers on Airbnb, it is now listed for $2,200-a-week.

The 1920s built cottage boasts five bedrooms, four bathrooms and a detached garden studio with a fold-down queen bed, ensuite and kitchenette.

The lush garden is surrounded by trees and offers complete privacy, with a 9m pool, heated spa, outdoor bath, copper shower, fire pit, bridge, boat and swing.

Carrie bought the bungalow fully furnished, complete with envy-inducing interiors.

Joining Carrie in putting his home on the rental market is Melbourne-based comedian Dave Hughes, who listed his sprawling $3million pad in Elsternwick.

The comedian, 49, purchased the five-bedroom home from The Block’s Elyse Knowles and Josh Barker in 2017, and is asking for $2,000 per week.

On top of the weekly payments, the tenant will need to lodge a $10,000 bond and be ready to move into the fully-furnished property from May 23.

The home is nothing short of an inner city oasis with the open plan kitchen and living area featuring bifold doors that open out to manicured gardens and a pool area.

Dave has already had trouble finding tenants for the well-appointed property, with the COVID-19 crisis surely making a further dent on likely tenants.

Embattled former MasterChef judge George Calombaris also put his five-bedroom Toorak mansion up for rent after choosing not to list it.

Despite the stunning home not publicly listed with a price, it is believed it would rent for more than $1,423 per week which is the median for the upscale suburb.

The former Network Ten personality’s Toorak property boasts five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a lift and a five-car garage, plus a recently constructed gym.

The home was at the centre of a media storm in 2018, after an elderly neighbour complained about a ‘monstrous’ backyard gym Calombaris had constructed.

Helen Elsworth, 72, compared it to a public toilet block. But the celebrity chef said his neighbours would ‘be rapt’ with the result when the gym was finally completed.

Shortly afterwards, George was dealt a blow when his Melbourne restaurants and venues stopped trading with the collapse of his restaurant empire.

Lastly, a home frequently visited by the band Crowded House in their early days has also been put up for rent.

The Ormond property once owned by Crowded House bassist Nick Seymour boasts three bedrooms and one bathroom.

It is thought to be worth around $1.3 million, with it listed for $649 per week.
