Rebel Wilson updates fans on her weight loss and says she’s glad gyms are reopening in Australia as she plans to slim down to 75kg

She is well on her way to slimming down to her goal weight of 75kg.

And Rebel Wilson proudly discussed her fitness and weight loss journey during an interview on Sunrise in Australia on Monday. 

‘There’s been a lot of working out, which was hard with the coronavirus restrictions,’ the Pitch Perfect actress explained.

Rebel told hosts Samantha Armytage and David ‘Kochie’ Koch she was happy gyms were finally reopened because she was ready to step up her training.

‘I had to go out to the park and lie on the dirt doing my sit-ups,’ she laughed, adding of Sydney’s winter weather: ‘It’s a bit brutal, and it’s going cold in the mornings.’ 

Rebel, 40, said she was thrilled that fitness centers reopened on June 14 in New South Wales. 

 ‘I’m glad that the gyms are reopening, so I can pump iron,’ she said. 

She explained that while work has dried up for during the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s given her more time to focus on her ‘year of health’.

To help her shed the pounds, Rebel has enlisted the help of celebrity personal trainer Jono Castano Acero. 

During a typical week, Rebel works on high-intensity interval training (HIIT), mobility, weights, resistance, technique and tempo, and has just one day of rest.

With gyms closed, her trainer has incorporated outdoor workouts into her regimen, including an intense stair run on Sydney’s iconic Opera House steps.

She had kickstarted her focus on health in January, sharing her mission with fans to keep herself accountable. 

‘[I’m] trying to avoid the sugar and junk food, which is going to be hard after the holidays I’ve just had, but I’m going to do it!’ she wrote at the time.
