Three children aged 12, eight and five die and their mother, 39, is fighting for her life after house fire in Scotland

  • Fiona Alexander James and Philip Gibson were all rushed to hospital in Glasgow
  • A 39-year-old woman was taken by ambulance to a different hospital in Paisley
  • Staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital have described her condition as critical 

Three children aged 12, eight and five have died in hospital and their mother is in critical condition after a fire at a flat in Scotland.

Fiona Gibson, 12, Alexander James Gibson, 8, and Philip Gibson five, were rushed to hospital after the upper-cottage flat in Paisley, Renfrewshire, caught ablaze.

The siblings were rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, but they tragically died soon after admission.

Their mother, 39, was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where she remains in critical condition.  

A police spokesperson said: ‘An investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances of this incident.

‘Anyone who has information that could assist our enquiries should contact police via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 3669 of 19 June 2020.’
