Matt LeBlanc suits up in sweats while wearing a mask for safety as he takes care of errands in LA

Matt LeBlanc was out and about in Los Angeles on Saturday as he took care of errands.

The 52-year-old Friends alumnus did his part to help slow the spread of the coronavirus by wearing a pale blue surgical-style mask while shopping.

He opted for comfort and warmth by wearing sweats, including a black Fox Racing hoodie and navy Adidas sweatpants.

Matt also wore a pair of gray and blue Nike athletic shoes and a black baseball cap.

The comic actor is set to appear on the highly anticipated Friends reunion, along with the rest of the original cast, though the coronavirus pandemic has forced the production to be delayed for multiple months.

On Wednesday, Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman indicated the reunion special might start filming as early as August.

‘We are hoping to be able to shoot in August, if all is well and there is no early second wave and the studio is open,’ Kauffman told The Wrap

This comes after WarnerMedia Entertainment and Direct-to-Consumer chairman Bob Greenblatt said in May: ‘If everything is in place and we understand all the protocols and we can still make a good show, we’ll be shooting it some time, mid-to-late August.’

However, recent news reports suggest Kauffman and Greenblatt’s predictions about the state of the coronavirus may have been too rosy.

Though she worried about a ‘second wave,’ multiple infectious disease experts say the US is still in the midst of its first wave, and therefore at even greater risk as cities begin to reopen their economies across the country, according to NBC.

On Saturday, as Matt was running his errands, public health officials in LA County reported 2,055 new COVID-19 cases, the third-highest daily number since the pandemic began.

One possible solution to keep that early timetable would be to shoot the special remotely, with each of the actors filming from home.

Friends executive producer and director Kevin Bright thought that would be a disappointing choice when he appeared on Maria Menounos’ talk show Better Together in May.

‘We’ve waited this long,’ he said, while advocating for an in-person special.

‘We feel the reunion needs to be done in front of an audience; we can’t not share it after all this time,’ he explained, before revealing that the show is now tentatively scheduled to be completed by Thanksgiving in November.

Matt rose to fame during Friends’ 10-year run from 1994–2004 as the buffoonish ladies man Joey Tribbiani.

The role earned him three Emmy nominations and made him a household name, and he would continue playing the character for two more seasons on the LA-set spin-off Joey.

Afterward, he starred on the British–American comedy series Episodes from 2011–2017 as a fictionalized version of himself, which earned him a Golden Globe award.

He recently starred on the fourth season of Man With A Plan, which finished airing in June after CBS canceled it in May.
