Jenna Dewan joins celebrities urging their fans to wear a mask

Jenna Dewan joined the ranks of those urging their followers to wear masks to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The 39-year-old actress and dancer made the point by posting a sweet photo of herself in a mask while her 3-month-old son Callum was strapped to her chest on Friday.

‘I #wearadamnmask for my family,’ she captioned the picture.

For a good cause: Jenna Dewan, 39, urged her 6.1 million Instagram followers to wear masks to combat the spread of COVID-19 as part of the ‘wearadamnmask’ campaign

Jenna had her dark locks tied up in a messy bun, with strands running down her forehead, and she wore a rainbow striped cloth mask.

Little Callum was held close by a baby carrier she wore around her torse.

She continued by listing reasons to wear a mask in public.

‘For our grandparents. To keep my community safe,’ she wrote.

The Step Up star also noted that COVID-19 disproportionately impacts ‘Black and Brown communities,’ and added that masks ensured the safety of all frontline workers ‘bravely serving our communities.

‘Because we all need to come together and do whatever we can TOGETHER,’ she concluded, before urging her 6.1 million followers to ‘Be safe this holiday weekend.’

Jenna’s post joined in on the ‘#wearadamnmask’ challenge as coronavirus cases continue to spike across much of the United States, including vast swathes of the South and West.

It’s not departure for the Flirty Dancing star, though. She has regularly urged her followers to quarantine at home whenever possible.

Celebrities including Jennifer Anniston, Tracee Ellis Ross and Kerry Washington have been among those leading the ‘#wearadamnmask’ challenge.

The hashtag was reportedly created by designer Tory Burch to help slow the rate of COVID-19 cases, following multiple states’ plans to slow down or halt business reopening across the country.

‘I am sure you all are seeing what I am seeing, COVID 19 rates in the USA are rising at a truly scary rate,’ Tory wrote on Instagram.

‘One thing I know for sure is that there’s a very easy way each of us can help, and that’s to #WearaDamnMask whenever we are in public. #WearaDamnMask because we want to protect ourselves and, even more importantly, we want to protect others.’

‘#WearaDamnMask because clearly, the doctors and data say we are not going to beat this pandemic unless we each do our part to get rid of it. #WearaDamnMask because is it not a political issue, it is an issue of saving lives. #WearaDamnMask because it is the only way to keep our most vulnerable safe and the only way to get our economy back on track,’ she concluded.

Jennifer began her post on Wednesday by acknowledging that masks could be uncomfortable.

‘But don’t you feel that it’s worse that businesses are shutting down… jobs are being lost… health care workers are hitting absolute exhaustion. And so many lives have been taken by this virus because we aren’t doing enough,’ she countered.

She went on to bemoan the ‘people in our country refusing to take the necessary steps to flatten the curve’ and said the ‘simple and effective’ step to slowing the coronavirus’ spread ‘is being politicized at the expense of peoples’ lives.’

‘And it really shouldn’t be a debate,’ she added.
