EastEnders fans are left shocked as Ian Beale star Adam Woodyatt, 52, shows off his weight loss

EastEnders fans were left in shock on Tuesday after Ian Beale star Adam Woodyatt showed off his weight loss in a new spoiler clip.

This Morning aired a sneak preview of an upcoming episode of EastEnders: Secrets From The Square where the actor, 52, looked almost unrecognisable.  

The new spin-off show, hosted by Stacey Dooley, sees the presenter interviewing original cast members about their time on the hit BBC One soap.  

EastEnders aired its final episode in June after running out of episodes due to the COVID-19 crisis with Secrets From The Square replacing the missing spots. 

And on an upcoming episode of the spin-off, Stacey, 33, interviews Adam and his co-star Gillian Taylforth, who has played his mother Kathy Beale over the years. 

This Morning aired a spoiler clip of the scenes, where the two stars discuss their characters and turbulent mother-and-son relationship.    

Yet soap watchers were more distracted by Adam’s staggering weight loss with This Morning’s soap queen Sharon Marshall also impressed.

She quipped: ‘Gillian Taylforth hasn’t aged in a million years but Adam Woodyatt, I think, is looking very svelte, post-lockdown.’ 

It is not known how much weight Adam has lost but he is an avid cook and even appeared on the 2019 series of Celebrity MasterChef. 

Shocked fans took to Twitter on Tuesday to point out his weight loss after the scene aired. 

One person said: ‘F**k me Ian’s lost some weight ain’t he #Thismorning.’ 

Another account put: ‘Adam looks amazing omg #ThisMorning.’ 

While a different user added: ‘I didn’t recognise Adam for a minute!’ 

Adam has played Ian Beale on EastEnders since 1985 and has been part of several shocking storylines over the years.
