Brad Pitt receives an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Dr. Anthony Fauci on Saturday Night Live… months after winning an Oscar

Brad Pitt has received an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Dr. Anthony Fauci on Saturday Night Live.

Pitt did the cold open as Fauci back in April, after the doctor joked he would like to see the actor play him on the variety show.

Pitt, 56, has been nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series, putting him in competition with fellow nominees Fred Willard, Adam Driver, Dev Patel, Eddie Murphy and Luke Kirby.

The actor has been nominated a total of four times for an Emmy, and did win one in 2015 for Outstanding Television Movie for The Normal Heart, which he executive produced. 

The hilarious SNL skit sees Pitt addressing the public as Fauci, the nation’s top infectious diseases expert who has been at the forefront of in the country’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.  

At the end of the skit, Brad removes his wig to directly thank Fauci and other first responders at the frontlines of the pandemic.  

The portrayal won over not just audiences, but Fauci himself.

‘I think he did great,’ Fauci said on Telemundo’s Un Nuevo Dia following the performance. 

‘I mean, I’m a great fan of Brad Pitt, and that’s the reason why when people ask me who’d I like to play me I mention Brad Pitt because he’s one of my favorite actors. I think he did a great job.’
