There is a significant increase in HUSLAB’s corona infection rates. “If the infectivity rate is well above one, infection rates increase exponentially,” says the expert.
– At least the infections in the HUS area are increasing at a considerable rate. Last week there were a total of 34 positives and now during Monday-Tuesday there were already 22. Yesterday (4.8.) There were already 14 positives in a total of 1645 tests. There were 8 positive ones on Monday, says Lasse Lehtonen, HUS’s director of diagnostics.
The situation was different a month ago.
– At the beginning of July, there were one class a day positive, Lehtonen says.

“Infectivity rate well above one”
The future looks uncertain.
– If the infectivity rate is well above one, the infection rates increase exponentially. In the spring, the number of infections in Finland was reduced to less than one by restrictive measures and good protective behavior of the population. Now, unfortunately, the situation looks worse.
What is the infectivity rate now?
– At least based on HUS test results, clearly more than one.
