Sami Vatanen did not fumble with power in Carolina Hurricanes ’decisive victory over the New York Rangers. Instead, he excelled at his own end with an iron defense game.
In the second set, the match was 1-1 in the readings as the Rangers staged a wild Myllyty at the end of Carolina. Keeper James Reimer stretched a few for a great fight, but Vatanen stole the biggest attention.
The Finnish defender blocked the safe goal twice. First he blocked the puck on his chest and in the next situation he got his racket shot into the road.
– Sami Vatanen did a shoulder fight, of which Miikka Kiprusoff and Pekka Rinnekin would be proud, the commentator glowed with the situation.
