“A strong car in no way guarantees a strong result”

The fifth race of the Formula One season will be run next weekend in Silverstone. Mercedes has won every GP so far, although last weekend also went tight in the GP driven in Silverstone.

Both Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton suffered a flat tire in last Sunday’s race. Bottas was completely out of the World Cup points. Hamilton managed to squat on the checkered flag as number one.

– Lewis was luckier and managed to get his car across the finish line just in time with three wheels. But the fact is that we lost 18 World Championship points with Valtter and could very well have been left completely without points, team manager Toto Wolff said on Mersu’s website.

Bottas won the opening race of the season. Hamilton has been number one three times in a row since then. While many have lamented Mercedes ’superiority, Wolff points out that nothing is certain.

– We have been saying all along that reliability issues can be particularly expensive in this shortened period and last weekend was proof of that. It was also a good reminder that a strong car does not in any way guarantee a strong result. We take complex machines to the extremes every weekend. It would be foolish to assume that things will always go well for us, Wolff continued.

Wolff expects a tough fight next weekend.

– The coming weekend will be a real challenge when driving in hotter weather and with softer tires. Warmer conditions brought the crowd more to the pile last weekend. Softer tires will know more depot stops and more variation in tactics, so we can expect a good fight, Wolff saw.
