In Finland, 20 new coronavirus infections have been reported during the day, says the National Institute for Health and Welfare THL. A total of 7,532 infections have now been identified.

Yesterday, THL reported 29 new coronavirus infections detected during the day.

Infections have been on the rise in Finland for two weeks. The number of infections has almost doubled in the last seven days of follow-up compared to the previous one-week period.

By Wednesday, a total of 331 coronavirus-related deaths had been reported.

The chief physician would specify the conditions for access to the tests

Access to corona tests should be specified, says Antti Hakanen, Chief Microbiologist of the Hospital District of Southwest Finland, to STT. Hakanen fears that testing capacity will be overloaded during the autumn, when in addition to the coronavirus, there are other respiratory infections such as rhinitis or influenza.

Sampling points for corona tests are congested, especially in large cities. According to Jarkko Pajarinen, Business Area Director of the Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital District, congestion is a result of the fact that the number of people applying for the test has increased more than expected recently.
