The city of Turku says that several coronavirus infections have been detected in the city since July, which have been detected in travelers returning from the Balkans. A health information point will be opened at the airport this weekend.
The city recalls in its press release that unnecessary travel should be avoided in countries where the coronary situation is still poor or deteriorating. These include northern Macedonia and Poland.
– The coronary virus situation is poor, especially in the Mediterranean Balkans. It is therefore very important for those who have traveled there and arrived in Finland to comply with voluntary quarantine for 14 days. This will prevent the spread of infections in Finland, says Jutta Peltoniemi, the doctor responsible for infectious diseases in the city of Turku.
According to the city, family members of those who traveled from the Balkans have also contracted infections.
New health advice point introduced
The city plans to open a health counseling point at Turku Airport this weekend together with the Hospital District of Southwest Finland.
Passengers are instructed in matters related to follow-up care and quarantine and, if necessary, are directed to corona testing. Passengers are tested for those who have symptoms or are suspected of being infected with coronavirus.
It is planned to expand the operations to the Port of Turku later.
