Paris Hilton reveals she had a traumatic childhood experience that she kept secret

She became a household name after starring in the reality series Simple Life in 2003.

And on Monday, Paris Hilton dropped a trailer for her upcoming YouTube documentary called This Is Paris, with the sub-headline The Paris You Never Knew.

In the excerpt, the 39-year-old star hints about a traumatic childhood experience that she kept secret from her family – even her sister Nicky Hilton.

The clip starts with Paris at her home with her dog before images and videos of her on the red carpet and posing with fans flash.

 Paris was heard saying ‘I feel like the whole world thinks they know me. No one really knows who I am.’ 

While driving she tells the camera person,’Sorry I’m so used to playing a character that it’s hard for me to be normal.’

A montage of her at events and posing for photos with breathtaking view plays while she says over the footage: ‘I’m always putting on this facade. Always happy and perfect life.’

Her sister Nicky Hilton asked her if she was happy, and Paris nods her head as if saying yes before later adding, ‘Sometimes,’ with a laugh.

Nicky is heard saying: ‘They say trauma, the mind may forget but the body never forgets. It’s trapped and it can come out whenever.’ as a clip of Paris DJing in Belgium plays back.

A man is seen getting close to Paris’ face backstage as she took a seat before she is seen appearing to be in an argument.

Paris says ‘Stop’ with visuals of her taking off her makeup and getting into to bed.

‘I don’t even know who I am sometimes. It didn’t used to be that way. Something happened in my childhood that I’ve never talked about to anyone.’

The next clip shows Nicky and Paris seated as Nicky says: ‘I just heard screaming. Bloody murder.’

Paris is then seen in another scene telling her parents about it: ‘I couldn’t tell you guys about it because every time I tried, I’d get punished by them. I still have nightmares about it. The only thing that saved my sanity is thinking about who I wanted to become when I got out of there.’

Paris walks into a crowd of people and paps as she is heard saying: ‘I’ve just created this brand, this persona, this character. I’ve been stuck with her ever since.’

A flash of Paris looking glamorous and at events are shown before a crying Paris sitting is then seen.

Someone off screen asked her: ‘Is that enough?’ to which she said, ‘No,’ clearly with tears in her eyes as she faces the camera.

This Is Paris premieres on YouTube September 14.
