Altered Carbon canceled by Netflix after 2 seasons over low viewership… as COVID-19 spells out end of other fan favorites
The ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic has kept Hollywood on lockdown for more than four months.
And as some movies and TV shows get back to business with new safety precautions, others have been given the chop.
Netflix has added Altered Carbon to their list of cancelled series after two seasons, following the cancellations of The Society and I Am Not OK With This.

According to Deadline, the decision for the latest cancellation was made in April, and not due to lockdown, but ‘the streamer’s standard viewership vs. cost renewal review process.’
Meanwhile, The Society and IANOWT were originally renewed for their second seasons, but recently cancelled amid COVID-19 related issues.
Altered Carbon premiered in February of 2018, before dropping its second season this February, followed by an anime movie in March.
The sci-fi series, based on the 2002 novel by Richard K Morgan, takes place more than 300 years in the future.

The cancellation was met with farewells from the cast, who posted memories and thanks to fans.
Will Yun Lee (who played Kovacs Prime) wrote: ‘What a great ride it has been on #AlteredCarbon !! Thanks to all the fans that tuned in for both seasons. Takeshi Kovacs, one of my fav characters I’ve gotten to play!’
He also included a behind-the-scenes photo with his co-stars, huddled around the show’s creator Laeta Kalogridis.
