Gemma Collins ‘panic eats’ McDonald’s to deal with the ‘stress’ of new lockdown rules

She recently revealed she had lost three stone and wants to drop another three.

And Gemma Collins set her healthy eating plans aside on Thursday as she treated herself to a McDonald’s while coming to terms with the ‘shock’ of new lockdown restrictions.

The Diva Forever star, 39, told her Instagram fans she had been driven to ‘panic eating’ after it was revealed London would be moved to Tier 2.

‘Panic eating’: Gemma Collins treated herself to a McDonald’s on Thursday to deal with the ‘stress and shock’ of new lockdown restrictions being introduced

Gemma said: ‘I’ve had to take to the ‘gram with the stress of the new announcement. I’ve had to get a McDonald’s.

‘Me and Sid are in shock aren’t we … about the lockdown. It’s drove me to have chicken nuggets and chips… panic eating.

‘Guys I hope you’re all having a good day and I just wanted to share how I’m feeling, better to share it. I love you all, let’s just do what we need to be doing and hopefully these chicken nuggets will get me over the shock.’

And it seemed as if the McDonald’s lunch really did help calm Gemma down, as she later shared a sizzling selfie outlining her plans ahead of lockdown kicking in.

She penned: ‘I’m going to enjoy the next 48 hours. I’m having a brandy up the west end and I’m going to enjoy myself!’

The reality star looked sensational in a multi-coloured glittering jacket and exuded confidence as she posed holding her blonde locks.

London will face tighter Tier Two controls from midnight on Friday after a deal was thrashed out with mayor Sadiq Khan.

It means that, as of Saturday, nine million people will be banned from mixing with other households indoors, including in bars and other venues.

But socialising outdoors — including in pub and private gardens — will still be allowed within the Rule of Six.

It comes after Gemma revealed she gained 4lbs after eating whole loaves of bread and butter in lockdown.

She had previously shared with fans that she had lost three stone in recent months, and now she wants to lose another three after her small setback.

Speaking to The Sun Gemma said: ‘I went through a whole tiger bread loaf with butter to cheer myself up.

‘Everyone in lockdown turned to food and I certainly did in the first few weeks.

‘I probably gained about four pounds, it was nothing major but I have certainly taken it off since then and I’ve lost about three stone in weight.’

She added: ‘It’s been a great amount of weight to lose but I’ve still got a bit of a way to go if I’m being honest. I still want to lose another two or three stone.’

Earlier this year, the reality star revealed she had shed three stone after using her time in lockdown to focus on her health and preparing nutritionally balanced meals.

However when lockdown restrictions eased Gemma went back to using Skinny Jabs to curb her appetite as she dined at various restaurants.

Back in September 2019, Gemma admitted that she would be using £250 SkinnyJab injections to kick start her diet.

The TOWIE star shared a post on her Instagram page in April hailing how the weight loss jabs had been so beneficial in her weight-loss mission. But she has since been criticised for not making clear the post was an ad.

SkinnyJab was criticised by The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for wrongly promoting prescription-only medicines used to treat diabetic and obese patients.

The company was also criticised for making weight loss claims that were ‘not compatible with good medical and nutritional practice’.

The Instagram posts, which were promoted by a string of models and other celebrities alongside Gemma, claimed the drugs would ‘suppress appetite’ and help users lose up to a stone in two weeks.

Gemma has said that she wanted to lose weight to help her chances of conceiving, explaining in July: ‘I’ve got a fabulous doctor. I can definitely have a child, he just told me it would be easier when I’m not carrying as much weight.

‘He gave me the confidence not to panic about it. He told me to lose a few stone and it will help me.’

Following the ASA ruling, Jane Smith, CEO of the charity Anorexia & Bulimia Care, told The Telegraph: ‘Inappropriate social media promotion can influence destructive eating disorder behaviours such as extreme food restriction, over-exercising, or the abuse of diet pills or laxatives.’
