Janelle Monae wears astonishing Mike Pence Fly Halloween costume

For Halloween, eight-time Grammy nominee Janelle Monáe transformed into the fly that stole the October 7 vice presidential debate right from underneath the two sparring candidates.

The famed winged insect perched atop current Vice President Mike Pence‘s head for two minutes and three seconds as he weighed in on racial justice and police brutality with Senator Kamala Harris.

‘Known as the FLYCON to you. But [I] am FLYYYRENE to my family,’ the Kansas City-born 34-year-old – who boasts 6.9M social media followers – wrote on Saturday.

‘Since the debate a lot has happened. I can’t wait for you to get to know ME…Ready for my close up. The people are still buzzing about ME. I will not let a conniving politician and his brittle comb over control my narrative.’

Janelle added: ‘It’s funny man. They used to chase me down to swat me. Now they chasing me for autographs. Life crazy. #flygirlsruntheworld.’

Monáe (born Robinson) showcased her elaborate costume both with and without human clothing selected by her loyal stylist Alexandra Mandelkorn.

Alex Navarro crafted the Venus Fly songstress’ handmade bodysuit while the iridescent wings were created by Angela Jarman and Sasha Glasser.
